At the 2025 IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, IUCN Members adopted 144 Resolutions, Recommendations and Decisions to guide global conservation action.
For Advocates for Biodiversity Conservation, these commitments provide an important framework for strengthening practical action across Ghana’s forests, agricultural landscapes, wetlands and communities.
Our article, “From Abu Dhabi to Ghanaian Landscapes,” outlines how ABC intends to translate the resolutions into four connected priorities: community-led landscape restoration, responsible mining and environmental rights, high-integrity nature and carbon finance, and the protection of wetlands and coastal ecosystems.
Women’s participation, youth empowerment, community stewardship and citizen science will be integrated across these areas.
This is our commitment to connecting global conservation ambition with locally led, measurable action for people, nature and climate.
